Visa Wait Times — India Posts (Official Estimates)
These are the U.S. Department of State's published estimates of the wait for a visa interview appointment at the five U.S. posts in India. They are monthly estimates, not live slot availability: AllVisaUpdates does not track, hold or sell appointment slots.
The official figures live on the State Department's U.S. Department of State — Global Visa Wait Times page; its parent page, Visa Appointment Wait Times, explains how the estimates are produced.

What these numbers mean
The State Department defines its two measures differently, and the two B1/B2 columns are not interchangeable:
- Average wait time (B1/B2 only). The State Department defines this as how long people typically waited for interviews in the previous month, measured from fee payment to visa interview date. State provides average wait times for B1/B2 visas only, and only in cases where the next available appointment is more than three months away.
- Next available appointment. The State Department defines this column as its prediction of when you can expect to receive an appointment at that post. New appointments are added regularly, so you may get an appointment sooner — and once you have scheduled, you can check the appointment system and move to an earlier appointment if one opens up.
- How months are counted. The State Department calculates months in 30-day increments and half months in 15-day increments, including weekends and holidays when embassies close. This page prints State's month figures exactly as published rather than converting them.
- Interview waiver appointments are not in this table. Embassies and consulates may waive the in-person interview for eligible applicants; the State Department states that wait times for those appointments are not reflected in the table.
- Estimates, not guarantees. The State Department states that the average wait times it reports do not guarantee a visa applicant will get an appointment within a specific time, and that the estimates do not guarantee the availability of an appointment. The estimates are based on workload and staffing, can vary from week to week, and do not include time required for administrative processing.
Where the official table prints “NA”, this page prints “NA” exactly as it appears there.
