US Visa Wait Times Index — India Posts
The US Visa Wait Times Index is AllVisaUpdates' monthly record of the U.S. Department of State's published visa interview wait-time estimates for the five U.S. posts in India. It exists so that journalists, researchers and other websites can cite one stable page — by name — for what the official figures were in a given month, instead of a screenshot of a table that has since changed.

How this index is compiled
One source only. Every figure comes from the State Department's U.S. Department of State — Global Visa Wait Times table — the only place the State Department publishes these estimates. AllVisaUpdates re-checks that table every month, transcribes the new edition exactly as printed, and adds the outgoing edition to the archive below.
What the figures mean is what the State Department says they mean: the “average wait time” (B1/B2 only) is how long people typically waited in the previous month, measured from fee payment to interview; “next available appointment” is State's estimate of when an appointment can be expected at that post; months are counted in 30-day increments. The full explanation of both measures sits on the checker.
Limitations. These are monthly estimates, not live slot availability — AllVisaUpdates does not track, hold or sell appointment slots. The State Department states that its estimates do not guarantee an appointment within a specific time, and they can vary from week to week with workload and staffing. Where the official table prints “NA”, this index prints “NA”.
Archive of editions
Every edition this index has published, newest first. The archive begins with the 21 October 2026 edition (checked 30 October 2026) — the first edition AllVisaUpdates published. Earlier editions were not kept, and none are reconstructed here; a new entry is added each month when the new State table is verified, and past entries are never rewritten.
